A few weeks ago in Cleveland, we were fortunate to compete in the 2024 National SAGES Shark Tank Competition (Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons).
The enthusiastic recognition from the audience and judging panel of our innovation of our Solar Surgery System and its impact on healthcare worldwide was staggering.
The inspiration for our innovation stemmed from our work in almost forty countries around the world and a profound recognition of the critical need for sustainable healthcare solutions in underserved communities worldwide. In many low-resource settings, access to reliable electricity remains a daunting challenge, compromising the delivery of essential surgical care and putting countless lives at risk.
We highlighted the versatility, affordability, and scalability of our solar surgery system, emphasizing its potential to revolutionize surgical care delivery and improve patient outcomes in low-resource settings.
Although we ultimately came in second place in the competition, the experience was nothing short of exhilarating and humbling. To be among the top contenders in a field of innovative healthcare solutions was a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of our team. Moreover, the feedback and validation we received from the judges reinforced our belief in the transformative potential of solar-powered healthcare technologies to address pressing global health challenges.
As we reflect on our journey from ideation to implementation, we are immensely grateful for the opportunity to share our vision and passion for healthcare innovation on a national stage.
